Disciplining Children
Wayne Tonning December 05, 2008 5:51 PM
I am a father of three children, a 5-1/2 year old daughter, a 3-1/2 year old daughter and a 21 month old son.
My oldest child is pushing and yelling lod at her younger siblings. I respond with a time out, but she does not seem to mind a time out.
Any thoughts or advice is appreciated.

Wayne,
I have found with my 2 boys that when they are acting "odd", misbehaving or causing chaos in the house, they are usually stress or upset by something. Has the balance of your house changed? Is there a new focus on one of the younger daughters? Maybe like with my boys your daughter is simply looking for attention, reassurance or one on one dad time.

You may want to make sure time out is in an area where it is away from all other stimulation. If this does not work then you may be over using time out and it has lost its meaning. Use other means of discipline.
